Vol. 026 – BOGL
- Posted By: RyanWells
- On: May 13th, 2013
Griffin aka BOGL, is a self-taught DJ and music enthusiast originally from Las Vegas, NV. His mystery carries deeper than the hood of his sweater; you never quite know when he will be showcasing all new exclusive music from his friends abroad at some unique Dubstep, Hip Hop, or House music party exposing your ears to the freshest sounds you’ve yet to hear. Bogl rolls with a posse he named Soundpieces bringing in the latest and greatest artists to San Francisco for years. The charisma he carries is like that of a friendly ghost; yet his style is so mind-boggling, he basically exists as an untouchable phenomenon. He’s become known for appearing out of what might seem to be thin air, playing a cocktail of low frequency sounds that will take you to an unfathomable dimension, and then vanishing to a far off place. It makes you wonder, is it even possible Bogl really exists?

Yan Zombie ————Nelson BC ( Daly City , East Van Digital, Home Breaking)
Yan Zombie, member of the “REALLY GOOD” family and main producer for future-rap crew Cyphanex; is a musical enigma and modern day renaissance man whose audio influences and explorations cross many styles and genres of global bass music. Everything from quick-mix funk, soul to trap beat, hyphy , to the baddest dub and glitch to futuristic badman dancehall, grime and bashment; sometimes in the same song. his live pa/ableton electronic shows consist of original cutting edge crunk production, combined on the fly mashups and micro mixing with bizarre psychedelic interludes and gangsta aesthetic.. you are as likely to hear parts of a song from the 1930′s as something mixed and mastered yesterday.

Vol. 019 – Max Ulis
- Posted By: RyanWells

A DJ going on 13 years, Max Ulis was first inspired by the sounds of house, trip hop, and early drum and bass. With the formation of Vancouver’s Lighta! Sound and the success of New Form’s Dubforms parties headed by Malcolm Levy and Michael Red, Max gained ground as one of North America’s first dubstep DJs. Over the past two years Max has moved away from dubstep, coming full circle with his music to reintroduce elements of his first loves, house and techno. To quote Resident Advisor’s Andrew Ryce, “Max Ulis’ increasingly diverse output could hardly be described with any one term, but it’s all united by an extremely spare and dry aesthetic. Stripped back, pitch black, and stark, he strikes an enviable balance meshing the dark with the dance floor.

Since 2007 Willisist has been a major player in Vancouver’s bass music scene, heading the SHAHdjs for a DnB revival across the city. Producing well over 100 shows he’s had opening and closing slots for the likes of Netsky, Noisia, Sub Focus, Dub Fx, Alix Perez, Pendulum, Drumsound, Sate of Mind, as well as countless local nights and 3 years running at Bass Coast Festival. He’ll bring the heat when it’s needed, but melodic, smooth, emotional tunes are where his soul is. For the love of drum and bass.
“For this Slowcast I’ve taken my freestyled set from Aug 25 2012 at the Commodore, swapped a couple tunes and tightened it up to release this sweet audio ride. Mostly DnB as you might expect, but I take the scenic route part way through. Enjoy.” – Willisist

Vol. 015 – First Date
- Posted By: RyanWells

It wasn’t long after they met when First Date realized they should be banging out soulful music together. They share an instant chemistry, not only with each other but with the dance floor as well. With their mutual unwillingness to familiarize with genre elitism, First Date can be found playing everything under the sun. Inspired by the earlier sounds of New York, Chicago, Detroit and The UK, they are known to mix up a concoction of modern day underground dance music with respect to the pioneers who made dance music what it is today. Seamless mixing, impeccable programming and love for the dance floor all on 4 turntables and whatever other gadgets they can fit in the DJ booth. Rest assured you’re in good company.

Vol. 013 – Wax Romeo
- Posted By: RyanWells
- On: September 25th, 2012
Wax Romeo is undoubtedly the world’s greatest lover, but when he’s done blowing kisses at the mirror, he can be found whipping out evvy choons in the studio, or playing his Friday night residency at Calgary’s Hifi Club.
His father, a well-dressed thief known for carrying a cache of weapons inside a steel drum, taught Romeo about marauding and defrauding at a very early age. Since then, he’s fleeced more fools than The North Face, stealing whatever he can, including the Golden Titty, which belonged to the dangerous Jamaican “Blouse an’ Skirt Posse”.
Having collected funk and disco records since he was just a yute, it wasn’t long till he figured out just how small bits of those records fit nicely on the 16 pads of his MPC 2000xl; and subsequently, how to rearrange those bits of records onto new records of their own.
Then came DJing. Flash forward a few years, and this dummy’s played with all kinds of people, all over North America, including the Shambhala Music Festival (Canada), The Rub and Flashing Lights (NYC), SXSW (Austin), and Mexico.
When he’s not writing self-congratulatory bio’s, or sleeping with his socks on, Monsieur le Romeo continues his quixotic journey through the landscape of house, disco, and techno, armed only with a winning smile and delusional self-confidence. If your party needs some step, Wax Romeo will get here fast, driving his empty brown limousine in the carpool lane. Get aroused.
